About Us
My name is Sanjay Nayal. I grew up seeing people leaving their homes in the villages and getting settled in cities. As a kid I always wondered what makes them do so? I thought this is what every one supposed to do. As I grew older I realized people are not always happy to leave their village. In fact I would hear people talking about the negative aspect of city life. Yet they were compelled to move to cities as they wanted jobs and make money in order to provide their kids a better future. It has been my childhood dream to work in my native place.
I would like to tell you a little about my background . I hail from Kumaun region in Uttarakhand . I was born and brought up in a small village in Nainital district. While growing up in a rural setting I learnt a lot about other things which were not in my school syllabus. I spent all my childhood and teenage in rural Kumaun and that’s where I first noticed existing problems in the rural communities. Spending 17 years of my life in village made me well acquainted with all the problems in rural Uttarakhand.
I come from agriculture background. Hence I have great knowledge of farming and the problems farmers face as well.
I have a bachelor degree in computer science from Kumaun University. I am well-versed in Hindi and English both. I can also speak Kumauni (dialect spoken in kumaun region) fluently. I have attended many workshops and training program during my graduation. I was an active member of National Children Science Congress Uttarkhand and participated in workshops and research programs. I completed my graduation in 2015 and started my internship with Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd. I worked as an Executive for two years. While working in city I realized how difficult it is to survive there. I always wanted to go back and do something in my native place. I was looking for something which could generate employment opportunities for young people like me who are compelled to migrate from villages to cities which is one of the biggest problem rural youth is facing today.
There are no employment opportunities in villages and most of the people end up leaving their homes and getting settled in cities (mostly in rented houses). This is further adding to urbanization. I strongly believes young minds create young (new) ideas and new ideas bring new change. Young people don’t want to live in the villages as they have no job opportunities. Hence the village receive no exposure to new ideas and development.
